51% of working women who had their first baby between 2006 and 2008 received paid maternity leave, compared with 42% between 1996 and 2000, according to a recent report by the U.S. Census Bureau.
The report found that the likelihood that woman who had access to paid maternity leave varies with age, hours worked and education. Around 24% of women age 22 and under used paid leaves compared with 61% of women age 25 and older. 56% of full-time working women used benefits compared with 21% of part-time women in work.
